How to get to Liberty Island

Liberty Island is accessible only by authorized ferries operated by Statue City Cruises from Battery Park (New York) and Liberty State Park (New Jersey).

By Train

For Battery Park: take the subway to Bowling Green (4/5), South Ferry (1), or Whitehall St–South Ferry (R/W). For Liberty State Park: use NJ Transit to Hoboken or Exchange Place and transfer to the Hudson‑Bergen Light Rail (HBLR) to Liberty State Park.

By Car

No vehicles are permitted on Liberty Island. Parking is available at Liberty State Park in New Jersey; parking near Battery Park is limited and costly — public transit is recommended.

By Bus

MTA bus routes serve Lower Manhattan near Battery Park. In New Jersey, local buses connect to Liberty State Park and nearby HBLR stations.

On Foot

From neighborhoods in Lower Manhattan, you can walk to Battery Park and follow signs to the Statue City Cruises ticket office and security screening area. The New Jersey departure is inside Liberty State Park.
